About the Author

Jeff Graham is the author of Second Half Sober, a recovery book inspired by two defining experiences in his life: football and his own journey to quit drinking.

A former college football player and longtime youth football coach, Graham spent years learning that success on the field rarely happens by accident. It comes from preparation, studying game film, recognizing tendencies, building a game plan, making adjustments, and calling the right audible when circumstances change.

Years later, Graham discovered those same principles could be applied to recovery. Instead of simply trying harder not to drink, he began studying his own patterns, anticipating difficult situations, preparing before cravings arrived, and developing specific plays for the moments when his old habits were most likely to take over. Recovery finally began to make sense.

That experience became the foundation for Second Half Sober.

The title reflects Graham’s realization that, at the “halftime” of his own life, he was no longer living the life he wanted or deserved. He regrouped, changed the game plan, and took the field again—this time prepared to run a different offense.
